Fixed: Submitting the chat form on the front end opened a WhatsApp error page (“This page doesn’t exist”) instead of the conversation. The button’s WhatsApp number was written into the page with extra quote characters, so the generated wa.me link was rejected. Testing the same number from the WordPress admin was unaffected, which is why the problem only showed up on the front end.
Fixed: WhatsApp numbers entered with a leading “+”, spaces, dashes or brackets are now normalised to digits before the chat link is built, so formatted numbers no longer produce a broken link.
Fixed: The “URL for Desktop” setting fell back to WhatsApp Web when the option had never been saved, even though the setting’s own default is “API”.
Fixed: WhatsApp button block now strips formatting from the number and URL-encodes the prefilled message, so messages containing “#” or “&” are no longer cut short. Existing blocks are upgraded automatically and will not show the “unexpected or invalid content” warning.
Fixed: The WhatsApp icon on the WhatsApp Button block showed as an empty square in the block editor, and was missing entirely for logged-out visitors on the front end. The icon font is now loaded in both places.
Fixed: With Icon Background enabled, the block editor preview ignored the chosen Icon Color and Icon Background Color and showed the button’s own colours instead. The preview now matches the front end.
